Raise your hand if you are a big fan of Gossip Girl! Now raise your hand again if the main reason you’re such a big fan of Gossip Girl is the outfits! I’m pretty confident that many of you will agree with me on this one. Gossip Girl outfits are the bomb.com! How can you not love Blair Waldorf’s classic, sophisticated, preppy style or Serena van der Woodsen’s vintage glam boho looks? (I seriously wear headbands sometimes because of Blair Waldorf! And also, yes, I like to wear sequins partially because of Serena.)
I get inspirations on how to style outfits every day from Gossip Girl quite frequently. Recently, I’ve had to go to job interviews and photoshoots and I’ve been asked to dress business professional when coming to these events. Just yesterday I had to attend a photoshoot for my club promotion at school. And naturally, I looked for some business outfit inspirations from Gossip Girl on the Internet.
I especially love the gold blazer that Blair is wearing in the picture. It looks like the perfect fit. I have a blazer that fits like that, but it’s black, not gold. And it just so happens that I have a pair of gold pants that would look great with a black blazer and a white blouse. So I decide to style them together.
This is the outfit that will make me feel like Blair Waldorf. I want to channel my inner Upper East Side Queen Bee so bad. But most importantly, since I want a career in fashion, I aspire to always be bold in fashion, to always wear what makes me feel like me, but a standout and fierce me, not a boring and ordinary me. This is the outfit that speaks my name. It’s what people think I would wear, and it’s definitely what I think I would wear.
Sadly, life doesn’t work the way we want it to. Because it was a group photoshoot, and since some people didn’t think it was a good idea, I had to think of the other people and dress in an appropriate way that would look harmonious with the rest of the group. Therefore, in the end, I chose not to wear the gold pants, but a pair of boring black pants that went just fine with the whole outfit.
Surely, this outfit was not my first choice, but at the end of the day, I didn’t totally hate it. I obviously look like a secretary, but I guess it did look put together. For sure though, if I ever got a job in the fashion industry, I will definitely wear those gold pants with my white blouse and my black blazer. But for now, I gotta keep my head high, pretend that I’m wearing those gold pants, and shine everywhere I go.
